MARCH 2024: Do not leave a large, unmarked shipping container in an empty field. That is a bomber’s dream. Kudos to DAZ for this large throw up photographed by J2 near La Parguera, Puerto Rico, USA, in March 2024. I love the large stylistic block-letters which fill the entire space, highlighted with “Rebel” tags in the background. I also came across his work in San Juan, but I haven’t been able to dig up more on the artist. NOVEMBER 2023: BROKE36 [@broke36.0] crushes this 3-D throw up with dazzling stylized block-letters, sharp lines, a beautiful color combination, and detailed edging. I believe there is an homage to FLEXR, but I don’t know the background here. Amazing work! Photographed by J2 in Cali, Colombia, November 2023.OCTOBER 2023: I don’t know much about the artist: OHS [OH Crew] by Fezz (?). This was photographed in Cologne, Germany, in September 2023. The stylized block-letter throw up shows a lot of skill with splashy edges and cool color combination. The abandoned urban center surrounded by old artist marks just adds to the mystery here. The hidden message “HOPE” is a nice touch, too. Photograph by J2.AUGUST 2023: I think this month’s winner represents everything I love about graffiti: a bomber spot, highly urban and somewhat inaccessible, fat alphabet-soup letters, and a striking color combination. The TFPS Crew (True Fucking Players Crew; @truefuckingplayer.s) don’t mess around, in fact, they get around. They are highly versatile and able to hit just about any location. Photographed by J2 in La Victoria, Lima, Peru, August 2023.JULY 2023: A tag team piece here by DEF (lil_def3; ESM Crew) and MEYF 1 (@meyf.uno; N2S and APC crews). They combine forces to create a standout throw up. The bold block letters which are slightly angled and smashed, plus a unique color combination and added star accents, make this our winner for July. Photographed by J2, San Juan de Miraflores, Lima, Peru, July 2023. JUNE 2023: El CHAPO (@demarswolf) is our winner this month. (El) CHAPO continues to be a force across the city of Lima with works being found in Callao, Miraflores, La Victoria, and other districts. The distinctive stylized block-letter throw ups range from simple representations to more dramatic color usage. This photo by J2 was taken near Polvos Azules, La Victoria, Lima, Peru, June 2023. MAY 2023: VAYNE is king. This massive block-letter throw up is just a sample of his impressive skill set. Color combination, angled shadows, letter spacing, size, and location, all combine to create a memorable piece of art. Photographed by J2 at West End, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, May 2023. APRIL 2023: Smooth curves and sharp contrast make this bubble (alphabet soup) throw up by EMPY (@buenasoyelempy) really stand out. The added color layer also accentuates the tag. This was photographed in Guatemala City, Guatemala, April 2023. FEBRUARY 2023: This impressive large block-letter throw-up was photographed in Cuernavaca, Mexico, February 2023, along Interstate 95D where the prolific APS Crew is holding down things. Check out more of their stuff on this site or @_aps_crewJANUARY 2023: This stylistic smash throw-up was photographed in Bogota, Colombia, January 2023. Artist unknown. DECEMBER 2022: I am a big fan of large block lettering, but YORKER or YORKONE [@yorkone.art], puts a stylistic twist to his throw ups. I love the font play and angled letters. Photographed at NDSM Wharf, Amsterdam, Netherlands, in December 2022.
